Baton Rouge Gustav Evacuee update (letter to Jan)

Hi, Jan,

Sorry to take so long responding. Well, it was worse
than I expected in Baton Rouge due to high winds blowing over power transmission towers and knocking down a whole lot of big trees. My oldest daughter, Jenny, came up from New Orleans and stayed with me- Mary Lou and my middle daughter, Lauren, left ahead of the storm to drive up to Middlebury, VT where Lauren is going back to school this week. Our power went out Monday and I had no way to get on the internet until Thursday when I arrived here in Athens, GA to visit my Mom and third daughter, Mo, and practice with my new band! The three days w/o power weren't too bad except Jenny was a real pill. But now I'm enjoying a/c, being able to
charge my cell phone, and being around people with positive attitudes. Thanks for your concern. It's been so chaotic that I haven't read your essay, yet; but, I will soon. And, yes, I did
hear the Barracuda's speech on the radio. I think Barracuda is a pretty good name for her and she is a lot like Bush/Cheney with a bun. Please, God, don't let her get anywhere near the Oval
Office!

Love,

Owen

PS My band has a firm date to play at an upscale Athens Club
called the "Melting Point" on Jan 17, 2009. Wanna come?
