Projects

My band, Natalie and Southern Accent is set to debut on September 29 at the VFW Lodge in Gonzales. It's taken 14 months to get here but we're finally ready. The lineup is Natalie Sharp (vocalist), me (guitar), Mike Sims (bass), Jamie Landry (drums), Cheryl Marchand (tenor sax),  Horace ? (trumpet)  and Wedge Kyes (baritone sax). Mike and I are backup singers which I've never been featured on.

I still have a bit to do on the archives but only a few details and some writing.

Additionally, I saw my retina specialist this morning and my right eye hasn't changed in the past 6 months. I learned Dr. Fivgas has a daughter at UGA and he has enjoyed visiting her there.

Scott and Reeder Family Archives Project Overview

After my mother’s death at age 98 on January 15, 2015, I inherited a large collection of letters, documents, photographs and memorabilia my parents had accumulated over the course of their lives. These materials were stored in boxes, drawers and furniture chests in a disorganized state. As I was the executor of my mother's estate, I needed to decide how to dispose of all of my parents’ possessions including what I think of as the family archives. Clearly, it was impossible to organize the archives at that time so I packed them expediently and shipped them to our house in Baton Rouge. They remained for the most part in boxes and bins in our garage, attic and storage unit for the next 9 years. This year, 2024, I finally began to address the task of putting the archives into some form of order and making written records to explain them for anyone who might examine them in the future. Of my parents’ six grandchildren, only Maureen Scott Stevens has children who may eventually extend this branch of the family. I can’t say whether the archives will be of interest to anyone who comes after me but I feel a duty to preserve the knowledge I have and leave these materials in a condition where the history they represent may be understood.
